Description

| Wonderful species of basil, it has groups of medium sized intense purple leaves and a strong aroma. One of the best tasting of all the basils with a spicy warmth. Grows to about 45cm with pretty pink-mauve flowers in late summer. | ||||

Culture
|

| This is one of the most tender plants to grow and will not tolerate cold and damp soil. However if grown a little later in the season than other species, this basil will flourish in a warm sheltered place. The flowers would normally be removed to encorouge new leaf growth but are so attractive you may choose to leave them. | ||||
|
Harvest/Use
|
||||
| Pick leaves as required all summer long to add colour to pasta and rice dishes. | ||||
