  Basilic Mammouth Ocimum Basilic

Description
A very big leaved variety of basil producing loads of material; ideal for pesto lovers. The leaves are a light green colour with a fairly strong basil scent.
Culture
Sun, sun, sun. Water when soil is dry but before the large leaves start to wilt. Remove flowers to promote new leaf growth.
Harvest/Use
Remove whole leaves as required, tearing into salad or garnishing soups or pasta.

Medicinal Notes
{Links} Basilic was used in Elizabethan times to clear the brain and to soothe headaches, it is renowned as an aphrodisiac. An infusion of fresh shoots is used in digestive disorders and as an expectorant. It has a healing effect and is used in compresses and baths.
