Horticultural Grouping:

A=Annual; seed germinates, plant grows and produces seeds in same season. Plant then dies.

HA=Hardy Annual; plant can stand frost.

HHA= Half Hardy Annual; plant is frost tender and must be protected from the cold or sown in warmer weather.

B=Biennial; seed germinates and plant grows in first season and produces seed in second season. Plant may then die dependent on species.

P=Perennial; seed germinates or cutting roots and plant grows in first season, top growth may die back in winter but plant will produce new top growth in next season. Will continue for many seasons without dying and may produce seeds dependent on species.
