Description
Easily the most underestimated vegetable in the world! Rich in vitamins A,B,C,D,E, Phosphorus, Calcium, Iron, Potassium, Silica, Sodium, amongst others....A true marvel of nature. Easy to grow and excellent storage qualities, with a taste of chestnuts which improves with time.
Culture
Plants should be planted into well mucked ground once all risk of frost has passed (after 15th May). Mulch well to conserve the humidity and water at the base of the plant in dry weather (avoid wetting the leaves to deter desease problems.
Harvest/Use
Pick the fruits when they have swollen and the stems are hard and dry looking. Avoid damaging the fruits by tearing from the stems, prefering to cut with a sharp clean knife. Store in a dry airy place well away from the frost. Use to make Potimarron soup.
